Shantui
The TEH160-C is Shantui's rigid off-highway dump truck. It runs a twin-engine plus battery hybrid through an AC-DC-AC electric drive, which keeps both loaded-upgrade and loaded-downhill performance strong while lowering operating cost.
The truck is built for open-pit coal and metal mines producing 3 to 10 million tonnes a year, where cycle times and downhill braking economy drive the haul cost.
The twin-engine plus battery hybrid gives total output above 1,432 kW with a power reserve of at least 15%. Fully loaded, the truck holds about 5 km/h on a 24% grade. On typical 3-5 km hauls this shortens the cycle and allows 3-5 extra trips a day.
The box-section, cast-and-weld torsion frame is designed for the truck's full service life. The electric drive package is a proven unit proven across full duty cycles, and the braided harness, terminal blocks, integrated distribution box and heavy-duty connectors cut loose-wire and open-circuit faults.
High-power electric braking works with the mechanical brake to cover service, parking, loading and emergency braking, with a safety accumulator. The full-hydraulic steering system keeps a large reservoir for safe steering after shutdown. Dumping, braking and high-voltage excitation are interlocked, with networked CAN control, instrument monitoring, graded alarms and a safe-fault lockout that stops dumping on a fault.
The cab integrates FOPS and ROPS protection with full-electric joysticks for a car-like driving feel. The cloth air-suspension seat has a three-point belt and heating. Main and secondary screens monitor the truck, and the curved windshield with 360° camera removes blind spots.
The twin-engine layout cuts overhaul cost by about 50% and maintenance cost by about 30%. The Weichai WP17 is a well-established engine with large parts stock, and hybrid regeneration on downhill runs improves fuel economy by around 15%.
