Project background

A container and general-cargo terminal operator needed to expand its short-haul fleet between berths, container yards and nearby inland depots. The duty is repetitive stop-start work: short cycles, frequent coupling, multi-shift operation and tight yard aisles. Fleet commonality and low-maintenance operation matter more than long-haul speed.

Equipment applied

The package paired Sinotruk HOWO chassis — arranged as terminal tractors and box/flatbed trucks for containerized cargo moves — with Shantui forklifts for yard handling. Weichai diesel powertrains run across both product groups, which simplifies the operator's parts stocking and technician training.

Where the terminal targets low-emission areas, electric Shantui forklift variants can be specified alongside the diesel trucks, with charging layout planned during fleet design.

Partnership & support

Chassis and handling equipment were quoted as one package with export documentation handled in a single order. The support scope includes commissioning at the terminal, operator induction and a recommended first-service parts kit. Local service partners in the destination region were to be introduced for warranty work and routine maintenance.

Results

The equipment entered shift work alongside the operator's existing yard fleet. No throughput figures, truck counts or availability data have been published by the terminal, so none are quoted here. The value proposition remains the combined sourcing of prime-movers and yard handling from one group, with common powertrain and service coverage.

This case is a generalized summary based on publicly available group and brand material. No terminal name, operator name or commercial figures are disclosed.
