Weichai rolls out 800,000th natural-gas engine

Weichai Power has produced its 800,000th natural-gas (NG) engine, coinciding with the launch of the next-generation WP16NG4.0 gas engine platform.

The WP16NG4.0 covers 400–560 hp and is targeted at heavy dump trucks, transit mixer trucks, refuse trucks and stationary generator sets running on compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Gas engines are increasingly relevant for export markets with abundant local gas supply — the Middle East, Russia, Central Asia and parts of Southeast Asia — where fuel cost per kilometre is materially lower than diesel.

SDHI Group supplies Weichai NG engines as standalone power units and as integrated driveline kits with FAST transmissions and HanDe axles.
